Post Toodler Beta 0.4.17 Released
Toodler Beta 0.4.17 was just posted and should be available in an hour or two.

This mostly has bugfixes:

  • Length can be entered in hours:minutes format, and are displayed that way if greater than 1 hour
  • Fixed a bug when the sync on startup option is set. (Thanks houseband!)
  • Fixed a bug in syncing repeating tasks. (Thanks japomani!
  • The folder/context/goal names now display on the subView menu at the top of the task list (rather than "false")
  • Fixed a bug in deleting tasks that can cause sync problems.

Hopefully the two fixes related to syncing will help increase stability for everyone. Thanks!

Looks like the submission process failed, so I just resubmitted. Should be available in an hour or two now. Sorry about that.

Here is something I noticed, the sort for priority is backwards, things with high priority are sorted to the bottom and low priority to the top.

Ethan,

This a very good, very usable tool. For the most part my recommendations are just to increase ease of use. I hope you don't feel I am too demanding. With that said...

Here is my new wish list:

Reverse the sort order for priority
Reverse the priority list order in the drop down select list
Include a full featured date picker like in toodledo
Include preference for which task data is displayed in list view
Include preference for which options are available in task details page
Top justify rather than center justify the drop down view selectors
Shorten the top buttons (see mock up http://forum.toodler.surfsurge.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58)
Throw some graphic elements in for cosmetics (the mock up is a suggestion)
Fix view switching bug (see below)
Allow for basic HTML rendering like toodledo
Fix repeating tasks refresh bug (see below)
Link to notes on task in list view(see below)

Possible ideas:
Stacked controls area to limit clutter and place key functionality on the main scene
Swipe pages left and right (or arrow buttons like Agenda app) to switch subviews

Thanks for all you do!

I think I found a bug. Here are the steps to reproduce

create 3 saved views
set one of the saved views as your default view
close app and restart the app
Try to change the sub view to another saved view
It won't change

I think I found another bug

create a saved view that shows due today and overdue tasks

Set a repeat from due date on a task

let it get 3 days over due

the task should show in the today and overdue view

check off the task, it will disappear

But the new due date will be two days over due still and should still be displayed in the today and overdue tasks view

I just noticed a bug: when creating views, it should refresh the top buttons to indicate that you are now in that new saved view. Currently it remains as the same view that you were in when you created that particular view. IE. I went to all, then created some filters, did a saved view, and it still says "All" at the top. I think it makes more sense to indicate you are now in that saved view.

I'm wondering also as additional feedback when you are in one of the standard views or even a saved view but have then added additional filters to it, maybe the filters button should be highlighted to indicate that you've done some additional filtering so that you know you might not be seeing something due to that?

Also one feature request to add to your list - can you provide a note icon in the task list if there is a note attached to a task - and make it clickable to bring up just that note either in a pop-up or a new screen? For example, I sometimes put a shopping list in the notes so it would be nice to be able to just click on a note icon and just see that list. It would be fine to be read-only when viewing it in this way...

Thanks again.

By the way, perhaps you can find out why your app is not updating in the beta feed properly. Seems like right now it's better to delete and reinstall these betas instead of just updating, and when I go to appscoop it doesn't list your app in it as far as I can see. Had to go to preware and bring up the beta feed from there, and then it's indicating toodler is at .16. But when I downloaded it, it was indeed .17. Not sure where the problem lies, but hopefully you can get that figured out.

Again, thanks for such rapid development, it's getting very exciting to watch this board and see when the next update is and what it's fixed or what new things it's added!

I REALLY like this idea! I added it to my wish list

Hi Ethan,

I discovered in the 4.17 beta that if I add a context in Toodler it is only added at the end of the list in Toodler. For example:

I gave my contexts numbers to have a certain order:

01 Office
02 At home
03 (....)

Now I added another context "01 Phone calls"

In Toodledo it is sorted correctly:

01 Office
01 Phone Calls
02 At home
03 (....)

In Toodledo it is just added at the end of the (long) list. That is little bit uncomfortable.
